Formerly employed at WFIF |
Willie Barnett has been interested in radio for as long as he can remember. Willie was Saved in Winter of 1985/86, and was first introduced to WFIF in Spring of 1987. Shortly afterward, he volunteered his time as the “station gopher,” and then was hired as a part time announcer on July 22'nd, 1987. In 1989, he became a full time member of the staff. On August 31, 2007, he was "downsized", and no longer works for the station. He served as WFIF’s Chief Engineer, Music, and Production Director for most of those 20 years.
Willie’s voice may still be heard on other frequencies (146.445 and 441.700), as he has been a HAM radio operator for years. (His Ham Callsign is: N1NKM) He may also be found on Facebook, chatting with friends, or working with various WEBsites. In High School, his nickname was "FLASH", he studied Electronics, and graduated from Bullard-Havens Tech in 1980.
Willie feels very strongly about his call to the ministry of Christian radio, and continues to earnestly seek the LORD to re-open that door.
Anyone who knows Willie, knows his passion for Christian music as well. “Listeners have told me that starting the day with Christ-centered music would set the tone for their whole day. Through the 'Morning Light' program, I was so happy to help lead so many of God’s people in praise to God each morning. I miss it more than words could ever express.”
Willie has been happily married to Kim since November of 1989!
